Do you have a Heap question? Look no further!
Hi,Currently the Load Time event is in milliseconds. I need to have it in seconds, so I need to divide the value by 1000. I'm trying to create a new definition to apply this formula but I can't see where I can do it. Eg: Formula = Load Time / 1000Is this possible to do with Heap? Best regards, Bernardo
Hi all. I have an index page where I want to track the number of clicks for all the links, and there’s 20+ of them. Currently, the Heap reporting feature enables me to add up to 12 events within one report, which means I can’t get one list with all links and I can’t easily understand which links are the most popular. The only workaround I see is to divide links into groups and have separate reports in one dashboard, but you can imagine it’s not perfect to compare data in this way. Does anyone have a better solution?
Currently extra added properties are being track in every browser even in incognito mode, but when it comes to Firefox, in private mode custom properties are not being tracked with the event, is there any way to track these custom properties in private mode of Firefox?
Hi all,I have salesforce connected to Heap, but I can't create a segment based on Salesforce Account Name. I hav the field available and I can only use it in the filter section when creating a report. This doesn't make much sense to me because it doesn't let me optimize my reports. By creating a segment it's much easier and faster to filter my reports.Hope you can explain me the reason why this is happening.Best regards,Bernardo
Salesforce uses email as the unique identifier. Marketo uses the Person ID. If I use the different identifiers for each integration, does the data ultimately all come together on the Heap Identity? Just want to make sure I don’t have to make adjustments for all integrations to have the same unique identifier in order to get the level of data enrichment and continuity that I need.In my mind I need to make email the same identifier for everything so that it all syncs together but that can’t be the right way to do this--especially when you have several data sources all enriching the customers Heap Identity.
I've got a silly question. What is the difference between "User that has stopped doing" and "user who has not done"? I know semantically there is a difference. But in reports, both of them come with a time span. Ex. User who has Not done a Session in 30 Days. And then lower, there is another filter for the time span you want the report for. SO if I wanted to see Users who have not done, say, an "active session" in the past month, which one would I use, with what timespan?
Hey there! First day on the job as a PM and first day using Heap (during my last gig I strictly used Segment/Mixpanel).Curious: is there a way to define a combo event using an “and” operator? I am trying to create a custom event definition in the Heap interface, which Heap calls “combo” events, and before asking an engineer to write in a custom event tracking call, I’m curious if I can define one myself using a combination of several Heap autocapture events that reliably fire off whenever a user performs a specific action.(Don’t mind the silly placeholder event name)Thanks!
We’re going to cover how to send your Zendesk ticket data into your Heap account. This allows you to analyze your ticket data alongside your product usage data, surfacing insights on what product areas are generating more tickets for your support team and helps you report on the effectiveness of your customer self-service resources. Three great reasons to send Zendesk ticket data to Heap:Get a more complete view of your user engagement across support, product, and documentation websites. Create reports that let you see how effectively your self-service resources deflect support tickets Analyze which users are likely to generate certain types of tickets and take preemptive actions to address them. The setup for this is really easy and should only take a few minutes.Login to your Zendesk Support instance Click the grid icon in the top right corner, click Admin Center In the left menu, under Apps and integrations, click Webhooks Click Actions > Create Webhooks Define the Webhook setti
My application’s help center is rendered using Zendesk so once a user clicks on a help article hyperlink, I am not able to capture what the user is doing in the help center. Does anyone know whether I can install the Heap snippet in Zendesk?

Customer Journey and Key Metrics Activation- In PLG motions, Activation and Onboarding means pretty much the same thing. It’s a set of self-serve flows designed to help prospects and new users of paying accounts set up their account, and guide them through experiencing your product’s value for the first time (the “Aha” moment). Many teams include habit creation in the Activation effort. Some refer to it as a complementary metric called Product Adoption Rate that monitors “stickiness”. Either way, you want to ensure that you are optimizing for all these three components (see chart). In sales-assisted or sales-led motions - Activation usually refers to the first milestone in the user-onboarding process. This is the moment focuses on helping a user successfully progress from sign-up to setup to the Aha moment. Establishing habitual use may often require more effort from the Customer Success organization, collaborating with Customer Lifecycle Marketing teams. Why is Activation important?A
In an analysis, is there any way to determine how many users are doing an event for the first time? I’m looking to see how many users are doing an event for the first time each day. The “Number of Users who started doing” query doesn’t show me the trend over time. Is this possible?
I setup Heap several weeks ago and initially everything worked as expected including the Event Visualizer.Recently however, I’ve been encountering an issue with the Event Visualizer where when I click on an element, the definition box that pops up will get stuck loading and can’t be closed out. So it’s been impossible to create new events or repair prior ones.Has anyone encountered this before or have any suggestions? I’ve tried different browsers, disabling ad-blocker, clearing the browser. I submitted a support ticket but I’m on the free plan so I’m not sure if/when that will get answered. Thanks
Hi folks, We are sharing heap data with other teams. right now we sync heap data out to BigQuery and then the downstream teams will absorb the data from BigQuery. Now the teams who get the data would also like to get the detailed event definition.I put the event definition in the “Notes” section of the event page. Is there any way I can share the event definition with those teams automatically?
Hi,I set up my business account with single sign on my question is how to assign user roles from my SSO?Also, can the new user provisioning happen upon first login from SSO or do I have to manually create user account and send invitation before they can login with their single sign-on credentials? Thanks
Hi, I have a question regarding the difference between two Heap built-in properties. What is the difference between “Identity” and “User ID”. User ID is explained here: https://developers.heap.io/docs/using-identify but I don’t see any apparent difference between that and https://developers.heap.io/reference/identity
Hello HEAP,I am Phuoc, a DevOps Engineer of Auvenir. We’re planning to integrate your product to our application. For now we are facing a concern regarding security that we do not know how to separate access permission when we have multi-environment creation. For example:We have 2 teams, one is the development team and another is the production team. We create 2 environments in the same project, one is DEV environment and another is PROD environment Our expectation is development team is able to access DEV environment only, if possible they can not see PROD environment in any place.Best Regards,Phuoc Truong
In this webinar, we'll teach you how to easily build dashboards and use them over time. Whether you’re telling a story about a feature launch or checking the pulse on your most important features and flows, Heap dashboards are a powerful and convenient way to keep tabs on your most insightful reports and share those insights with all your stakeholders.
This is what I tell all the new Heap users at my company: learn how to use funnels (my favorite part of Heap) by purposely building a bad funnel first. Walk through the steps, see the weaknesses of the funnel and then make it better using effort analysis, so you can see where users drop off, you can see where things are a little bit wonky here and there. And then you can make your question better, and you can make your definitions better. It just improves the overall funnel experience.Effort Analysis is crucial -- you scroll to the bottom of your results to see how much effort the user has to invest between each step. I'm currently working with our UX and UI teams redesigning and optimizing a few different screens and it's interesting to see very basic workflows, how people get from point A to Point B. For example, I'm currently taking a look at how our users get to our help documentation. Effort analysis shows us where users get lost—right where they drop off, or where they have strug
