How to get Heap Insights in Less Than a Day!

Follow these best practices to triage your customer journey quickly, and help align your teams around where the biggest, needle-moving opportunities are.


1. Start collecting your data automatically in Heap


For a fast evaluation of how well Heap meets your needs - install the snippet on your production environment to start collecting data about the way your customers engage with your entire digital experience.

Follow these instructions or share them with a developer who can help you install the snippet in a few minutes. Once installed, it usually takes just a couple of minutes for data to start flowing into Heap. In rare cases, it may take up to 30 minutes. 2. Map and define your customer journey on Heap
 

To kick off your analysis quickly, you can start by using our point-and-click module to define the autocaptured events per the major product flows and actions in your analytics plan.

Another way to start quickly, is to use the Explore Events module - that quickly surfaces the most common engaged pages on your site or app, that allows you to quickly build funnel reports and analyze their performance on the spot.

In the following days after the initial snippet installation, Heap will also prompt you with suggestions for top viewed pages, and events you want to take a look at.
 

3. For advanced analysis - enrich your data and add server-side events


A developer with Heap Admin or Architect roles and access to the production environment can quickly help you add additional data sources into Heap to enrich your user behavioral data and deepen your analysis.

In addition, it is a best practice to use  some custom or server-side events to track data from non-client side sources (usually around 10-20% of events our customers track on web implementations), you can schedule this work to be added in the coming weeks.

While you wait for this to happen, Heap will already be collecting the majority of the data you need automatically, in the background, and will be able to surface directional signals and actionable insights in a matter of hours!  

 

4. Are you a B2B business?
 

If you’re running a B2B business, a best practice would be to use the Account-Based Analysis module - and set up your implementation with this capability right from the start. To do that, you’d need to integrate with your CRM, and enable this feature in the Admin area.
