Filtering by UTM Source

Hello there!

I’m new to Heap and I’m working on a journey to see how users interact after receiving an email (filter by UTM Source = Braze). However, the filter only allows for “initial source” and our emails are never the initial source of the interaction.

Is there a way to filter by source were it is either the last interaction or any interaction coming from it?

I appreciate the help!

@mariabk You can add it as an event filter like this:


The reason the report filter only allows the users’ initial properties is because only those properties can be guaranteed to apply to all events in a journey (or, for the same reasons, funnels and retention charts).

Thank you @jonathan! I only have “initial UTM Source”, is there a way for me to create the “Source” as a property?

@mariabk Mind sharing a screenshot? If you’re in the event filter (clicking that icon that’s attached to the event in the report) then you should see UTM Source as well as Initial UTM Source.
