Exploring the behind-the-scenes of Heap University's curriculum design is like piecing together a puzzle. Armed with data and driven by our learners' feedback, we tweak and adapt our courses to ensure they meet the needs of learners and help them use Heap to its fullest potential. Here’s two key things we do with our Heap data from Heap University.
- Zeroing in on the Right Learners:
We realized the importance of focusing on the right set of learners while evaluating our session replay course. Initially, the data showed fewer than expected learners used the session replay feature. However, when we narrowed down the analysis to those who actually had access to this feature, we found that almost all of them were engaging with it. This was a lightbulb moment that underlined the importance of targeting the right learner demographics for more accurate insights.
- Asking the Right Questions, Testing New Ideas:
With the help of dashboards, we continually monitor how learners interact with our courses. For instance, in our Quick Start course, we noticed that not enough users ran a query within the first week. This sparked a series of questions: Is the timeframe too short? Would tracking over a month provide better insights? By digging deeper, we discovered new areas to improve. This curiosity-driven approach led us to test different hypotheses, like whether the course helped learners build templates faster or if the templates were easy to find and useful. Through a combination of questioning, testing, and analyzing, we keep refining our courses to better meet our learners' needs and improve engagement.
Our journey in molding Heap University's offerings is all about staying tuned to our learners while keeping an eye on the data. By honing in on the right learner groups and embracing a culture of inquiry, we're not just building courses; we're crafting experiences that foster growth, engagement, and a whole lot of 'aha!' moments.
