I am having difficulty defining events. When I try to define events in the “Live Data Feed”, I keep getting a “Forbidden” error. Is this perhaps a user permissions issue or is there is something else at hand?

Hi,

This seems to be the user permission issue only. To confirm, you may check your user permission level by going to the Teammates tab on the Account Management in Heap UI.
Here are the steps to get to this tab:

  1. Login to your Heap account.
  2. On left hand side menu, expand Accounts under Administeration section.
  3. Click Manage under accounts.
  4. Go to teammates tab by clicking on the Teammates in the menu that has opened.
  5. In the Teammates list search for your email id and see the role next to it.

Here, I am sharing the role wise permission for your reference:

  Read-Only Consumer Analyst Architect Admin
Run Queries
Export Query Results
Receive & Remove Self from Emailed Reports
Manage Personal Reports & Dashboards
View session replays
Invite Teammates
Manage Shared Reports & Dashboards
Manage Personal Definitions (Events, Segments, Properties)
Request Definition Verification
Manage Shared Definitions (Events, Segments, Properties)
Manage Categorization
Verify Definitions
Edit Verified Definitions
Access Snapshots
Manage Data Capture Settings
Manage Heap Connect
Manage Integrations
Manage Change History
Manage Security Settings
Manage Billing
Manage Home Dashboard
Manage Teammates
Manage Projects
Manage Session Replay Capture and Sampling rates

Please, let me know if this helps. If you have a Role that provides you the permission to “Manage Shared/Personal Definitions” and still you are getting the error, in that case it will help me answer your question if you could share some additional data, like a screenshot of the error and your role permission.

Hope this helps!
