Hello, I was working on visual labelling yesterday, and it was working fine, but this morning when I opened the visual Labelling, and launched my website and its showing me this message “We can't find Heap”.I checked the instructions from the official documents as well, and everything is fine, but still visual labelling is not working.
Just want to verify something. The article here says heap should have a default segment called New Users. This segment doesn’t exist in my list of segments.Have things been changed since this article was published?ORDoes this option not exist for all accounts by default? If either is the case, how could I manually create a segment for new users?
Hello everyone, I have a question that may seem really basic, but cannot seem to figure out at the moment. Please bear with me as I am just making the jump to Heap from the dumpster fire that is GA4. So, I have a Shopify Store, and I am trying to get data such as order confirmed etc, from Shopify to Heap. I installed the app, and it connected, but it is then asking me to “Select a property to match users between Shopify and Heap”. Now, do I have to go through this aspect of setting up the API?
e-commerce website: I want to build a journey map to see how customers are interacting with the product page. On this page, one thing a customer can do is choose different colors and sizes for the apparelStarted with a basic journey.Step 1 - view a product pageStep 2 - Add to Cart Before defining the size/color toggle, when I click to see other branches, I see other paths such as other pages the customer went to, but nothing about the toggle. Even after I defined the toggle, I needed to explicitly add that event into the journey; and then it showed over half the customers did that before adding to cart. Why doesn’t Heap auto-detect this?
I created a journey chart and added to a dashboard. On the dashboard view when changing date range all charts update accordingly except for the journey ones. They stays on the range I save when I create the journey. Is this an expected behavior?
Curious to know how particular segments of users interact with your product? Is your boss asking you which customer behaviors lead to retention? We know the feeling. The good news is Heap can answer all of these questions, and more! A key skill in Heap is knowing how to build a chart to answer a specific business question, but this is can be one of the most challenging aspects of getting up and going in the tool. With this challenge in mind, the Education team created not only a short course in Heap University, but a cheat sheet designed at helping Heap users translate their own business question into a fully built out chart (that provides them with super cool insights)! Check out the cheat sheets below for quick reference, or head to the “Turn your Question Into a Heap Chart” short course in Heap University.
Is there anyway that ratios are compared with the amount of users that belonged to a segment at a certain point?
I constantly use ratio charts in order to know what % of my users do something. The issue is that the amount of users I use to compare and create the ratio with keeps growing and it seems like the ratio is always compared with the current amount of people in the segment I use. So if in May I had 10 users in my segment and 5 of them did something, it said 50% did it. But then if in June I have 20 users in my segment, the chart says that in May only 25% did it. I would like to have the data compared with the amount of users present in that moment. Is that possible?
Hey! We’d like to have complete analytics for the user sign up journey. For logged in/ registered users, we currently assign a unique Identity which is working perfectly. Before a user signs up however, they are anonymous, so no Identity has been set. When a user signs up by email and password, we send a link by email, for the user to verify the email address. If the user clicks the link in the email, and it opens in the same browser, then we are able to keep the same session, and apply our unique Identity. This allows us to track the entire user journey correctly. However, sometimes the user clicks the link in the email, and it opens in a different browser and/or device. In this case, the initial session remains anonymous, and is not linked to the user Identity we assign. When we look at the funnels/ journey, the charts are misleading due to this. How to resolve this? So we can have complete analytics for the sign up flow. Thanks.
Hello, I’ve just started using Heap recently and so far its been super useful 😊 but I keep getting stuck in the same question when creating dashboards. I haven’t found an answer for this yet, so I would appreciate the help. For context: each one of our clients has a specific URL with numbers at the end of it. For example: www.ourcompany.page.com/XXX/XXX. The numbers XXX/XXX are used in different URLs across the app when this client is using it. This is the way we identify each of our clients. I’m using the Highest engagement pages (views per viewer) chart and when I group by path, I see only the XXX/XXX numbers, but not the name of the page that they’re using, which is the useful part for us (since the numbers XXX/XXX repeat in multiple URLs). Please can you help me out identifying why is this happenning? Thanks!

Hey All, I’ve got several charts up and running based on users and user sessions. I’d like to find a way to filter out internal users. That doesn’t seem to be a standard field I can filter on. I’m thinking either filtering based on email or account name? Any guidance is appreciated, thanks!

Hello, I want to use percentiles instead of averages to solve questions like:Whats the % of my users that do something X times? My end goal is to be able to say90% of my users did a specific thing X times75% of my users did that same thing Y times Thanks you!
Ashburn, Virginia is the source of 90% of our spam/bot traffic, so much that analytics are unusably skewed without filtering it out. Is there a method to stop logging all traffic from this city? It comes from too many IPs to block one-by-one at the IP level.I understand this is a crude method and will block some real traffic from being measured, but that’s fine with me.
We’ve added a number of custom events. We can see they are being recorded when checking the Properties view. However, when trying to create a report to filter for Sessions where an event containing “MoodChange” has happened in the last 30 days the count shows zero. See here:(The same happens if the operator is wildcard contains)QUESTiON: How can we make this count work?In addition, below in the dropdown, we can see there are many events with a label that contains the string MoodChange — they only differ by the final number after the underscore. But, in the view in Properties (1st screenshot above) we can only see one type of event, the one that ends with “_1”.QUESTiON: Why is that? We’d ideally have the label be e.g. mindfulMed_totalMoodChanceMinus8to18_ and the value that’s captured be the number that follows after the final underscore.QUESTION: Is this possible, if so how? (Feel free to just link to the relevant parts of the doc, cos maybe we missed sth in the setup.)Thanks in advance!
I’m trying to capture averages per user across multiple accounts and found the below article, but the drop down for finding Average per user does not exist.https://help.heap.io/chart-examples/engagement/see-the-average-event-count-per-user-over-time/ Analyze > Usage over Time > Graph (no option for Average per user)
Hi,I’m trying to figure out where people go after hitting our homepage. I don’t want to know if they go to a specific place (an event).I want to know what their organic path is through the site without predefining a next step.Is there a way to do that in Heap? Thanks,Anne
Hi all, I’m attempting to answer the following question in Heap: How much traffic goes to our various error pages?400 Bad request 401 Unauthorized 403 Forbidden 404 Page not found 5xx Server error Is this possible to answer with Heap? To answer this, would it require that we have specific pages for each error? Is this more of an engineering question? Thanks in advance for your wisdom fellow Heapsters.
One challenge I am having is that with our application, you can be signed in or signed out, and we want to view metrics for things like sessions for just people signed in versus all events. How can we filter to just events where the user is signed in?
The way I understand this, any visitor of my website can get hold of the heap application id that my website is using and then integrate it in their website by simply replacing the heap id placeholder in the common heap installation code that we paste in index.html. Is this a possible scenario? If yes, how to prevent a malicious visitor from polluting my heap applications’ data by misusing the id this way (e.g. whitelisting domains)?
Hi everyone! I’m having a problem where my funnel data is not matching the same data when isolated by individual events. Example (images below): the number of completed sign ups I have in the funnel view is 0 but when I filter for the metric just with a metric card, I have 2. Any thoughts on how I can troubleshoot this?
